Bruce Pascoe

Bruce Pascoe is a Bunurong, Tasmanian and Yuin man who lives on country, deep in the Victorian bush. A prolific writer, he is the author of over 20 books – fiction, non-fiction and children’s.

In Dark Emu (Magabala Books 2014) – winner of the Book of the Year and the Indigenous Writer’s Prize in the 2016 NSW Premier’s Literary Awards – Bruce draws on the diaries of early explorers to provide evidence that Aboriginal people across the continent were sowing, harvesting, irrigating and storing. He argues that systems of food production and land management have been blatantly understated in modern retellings of early Aboriginal history.
